About this event

2021 Strategic Plan - Dream, Strengthen, Grow. Have your say.

Over the past two months, we have engaged people across Queen’s FHS and SEAMO exploring what matters most to them about Queen’s, and their hopes for the future. We heard how much people appreciate and value the unique possibilities our size, expertise, and sense of community gives us – and how much energy you have for an even stronger future.

Your voices shaped the second phase of our planning, a series of “strategy hives.” Building on the themes you identified, these sessions will bring people together around key strategic questions, and create a vision for each topic. Each of the Hives will build on the previous one, and over the full set, we will identify a strategic framework that will guide us for the next five years.

Hive Three: Leadership in Population Health and Health Equity

June 3, 2021 from 10:00 am-12:30 pm

One pronounced theme that arose through the early engagement was a shared commitment to leadership and excellence in person-centred, population health that incorporates social determinants of health. The pandemic has amplified our understanding that structural factors mean that racialized, Indigenous, poor, remote and otherwise underserved communities have worse health outcomes.

In this Strategy Hive, we will explore ways to deepen how we integrate social and environmental factors, and principles of global health across all of our research, teaching and practice experiences. Together we will explore what we could be doing to lead the next generation of knowledge and practice by expanding the focus of our work to further integrate the full ecosystem of social and environmental factors that impact health and wellbeing in our communities and around the world.

This Hive will be hosted online and facilitated by The Potential Group. The session will be highly interactive, with multiple breakout groups and opportunities to shape direction and actions for the future of the Faculty of Health Sciences and SEAMO.
